The awarded products include Tatung Rice Cooker and Tatung Wireless VOIP Phone. Held annually, iF product design award is one of the most highly regarded design-related honors in Europe. This year, record high entries of 2771 submissions in all and 821 awards were given, a 3.3% lower ratio of winners than in 2007. Among winners, a selected group of 50 products were given golden award in 2008. Once again, proven stricter criteria honored an array of global brand names for their golden awards, such as Apple, Nokia, BMW, Cannon, and Panasonic. "This year, authentic products were clearly favored in iF product design award. No fusion, no retro, no 'pretending': Only those who recognize product simplicity and ease of operation can be successful in the long term and help shape the 'new modernity'!" says Fritz Frenkler, chairperson of the jury. An unprecedented number of entries entered the 2008 iF product design award, with only 50 golden accepted, the award laureates were among top global brands, such as Apple, Nokia, BMW, Cannon, and Panasonic. Nova Design, together with Tatung, the number one brand in consumer electronics, was honored to celebrate its success on the award ceremony on Tuesday March 4, on the opening day of CeBIT 2008 exhibition in Hanover Germany. "Adjudicating the annual iF product design competition is always hard work," said Wen-long Chen, now President of Nova design, member of the 2005 jury panel. A jury of international experts imposed the highest criteria to a detailed evaluation. To qualify for iF gold award, all jury members must be in unanimous support.
